Five Khunpon fighters in the new black and white pinstripe basketball jerseys, standing in the gym's photo studio

The Neighbourhood Has New Colours: Khunpon Basketball Jerseys Arrive in Phuket

Our first basketball jerseys are here, in black and in white. The Khunpon pinstripe jersey takes its cue from the classic basketball uniform and is made for training days and everything after them. It costs 1,000 Baht and is sold in store only, at Khunpon Martial Arts in Cherngtalay, near Bang Tao.

You can see what Khunpon stands for in the fighters stepping into the ring, in the coaches passing on what they know and in the people who keep turning up to train together. This first jersey collection gives that shared identity something to wear.

We wanted a piece you would reach for on a training day and keep on afterwards: a premium everyday jersey with a sporting heritage, in our own colours, tied clearly to the place and the people behind it.

To introduce it, we brought together the people who make the gym what it is. Muay Thai fighters and krus, our BJJ and MMA coaches, HYROX athletes and their coach, members and familiar faces from around the gym all took part in the photoshoot.

What the jersey looks like

Both jerseys are cut as sleeveless basketball tops in a light, breathable mesh, with gold trim around the collar and the arms. The pinstripes are not plain lines: look closely and each one is a column of small Khunpon "K" marks.

The front carries the gym's name in Thai, ขุนพล มาร์เชียล อาร์ตส์, in gold, with the K mark on the chest. The back reads KHUNPON MARTIAL ARTS above a large gold K, with PHUKET, THAILAND beneath it. A small gold Khunpon tab sits at the hem.

Where the pinstripes come from

We started from the pinstripe basketball jersey, a design that stands out on the court and moves easily into everyday clothes.

Our main reference was the Chicago Bulls of the Michael Jordan era, and the confidence that team brought to the game. The Bulls' black-and-red pinstripe alternate dates to the 1995-96 season.

The pattern has other well-known chapters. The Orlando Magic's original stars and pinstripes were worn by Shaquille O'Neal and Penny Hardaway on the team's first run to the NBA Finals. In baseball, the New York Yankees first wore pinstripes in 1912, and the stripes became part of how people recognise the club before they read a name.

It reaches into music as well. Jay-Z's *The Blueprint* x Yankees jersey from Roc Nation and Mitchell & Ness puts album artwork on the Yankees' pinstripes, a direct meeting of baseball style and hip-hop.

Those references show how much a simple design can carry. A jersey can say which team you follow, which music you grew up on or which community you belong to. Ours takes the classic basketball look and brings it home to Phuket, with Khunpon's colours, name and people giving it its identity.

The black jersey: "The neighbourhood has new colours"

The black jersey leads the collection. Gold stripes on black give it a strong, confident look, and it is built to become part of your everyday rotation.

For us, the line on this one starts close to home. It is about seeing Khunpon around the gym, out in Bang Tao and in the places where our community spends its time.

Wear it with training shorts, keep it on for the rest of the day or make it the centre of a simple outfit.

The white jersey: "The next chapter belongs to us"

The white jersey is the same design in a lighter key: white mesh, gold pinstripes, gold trim.

As our first basketball jersey release, this collection marks a new step for Khunpon. We are building an identity people can carry beyond the training floor, in clothes they want to wear through the week. The white edition is made for exactly that: at home in the gym and out around Phuket.

Worn by the people who make Khunpon

Everyone in the photoshoot is part of everyday life at the gym.

Our Muay Thai fighters and krus bring their experience and personality to every session. Our BJJ and MMA coaches help people build their skills on the mats and in the cage. Our HYROX athletes and coach put in the work that goes into preparing for the next race. Alongside them are members who help shape the atmosphere at Khunpon.

Bringing everyone together felt like the right way to introduce the jerseys. Each person wears them their own way, and the Khunpon name connects the photographs. To everyone who took part: thank you for representing the gym and for helping bring our first collection to life.

Made for training and the rest of the day

The idea behind these jerseys is simple: something you can train in that also looks like a premium piece you want to wear outside the gym. That could be a session followed by coffee, an afternoon around Bang Tao or a day off exploring Phuket.

If you live here, it is one more way to show your connection to your training community. If you are training in Phuket on holiday, it is something to take home and keep wearing.

This first release brings a new look to our corner of the island, starting with the neighbourhood around the gym, the same streets our crew helped clean up at the Cherngtalay community weekend.
