HYROX by the Beach: Khunpon x Amora Beach Resort Phuket

Eight stations. Teams of four. Points to chase. And a relay run that took competitors from Amora down to the shoreline before sending them straight back to their teammates.

On 31 May 2026, Khunpon Martial Arts joined forces with Amora Beach Resort Phuket for HYROX by the Beach, a limited-capacity community fitness event bringing more than 30 people together at Bang Tao.

The idea was not to recreate a HYROX race beside the sea.

It was to take the movements, energy and competitive edge that people enjoy about HYROX training and turn them into something built specifically for the occasion: eight adapted workout stations, teams of four, a points-based competition and a beach relay that made the surroundings part of the challenge.

For Khunpon, it was fitness with a different objective.

Work hard. Help your team. Score as many points as possible. And have some fun doing it.

Built for the team, not the stopwatch

HYROX normally combines running with a sequence of functional workout stations. That basic relationship between running and functional fitness provided the inspiration for the day, but Khunpon deliberately took the format in another direction.

Instead of asking athletes to reproduce official race distances, weights or standards, each of the eight workout stations was turned into a fun variation of a HYROX movement.

And instead of a standard 1km run, Khunpon made the running part of the team experience too.

From the Amora event area, competitors headed towards the beach, ran down to the shoreline, touched the sand and sea, then turned back towards their team.

Waiting at the other end was the next teammate.

A tag sent them out to complete the relay again.

It was simple, visual and slightly chaotic in exactly the way a community challenge should be.

The run connected the workout area with the beachfront setting, while the relay meant that even when only one person was moving, four people had something invested in what happened next.

Eight stations. One shared score.

Back at the workout stations, the objective changed from finishing fastest to earning points.

Each team worked through eight challenges, collecting as many points as possible across the event.

That created a different kind of competition.

Not everyone needs to be the strongest athlete in the group. Not everyone needs to be the quickest runner. A points-based team format gives different people opportunities to contribute in different ways.

One teammate might perform particularly well on one challenge. Someone else might become important at the next. The responsibility moves around the team rather than sitting with one individual from start to finish.

And because the final result belongs to all four people, there is a reason to stay involved even when you are not the one currently working.

You run. You tag. You recover. You encourage the next person. Then the team goes again.

For a team fitness event in Phuket, that shared responsibility mattered more than reproducing the exact mechanics of race day.

Competitive enough to matter. Relaxed enough to enjoy.

There was still a scoreboard.

Teams were still trying to beat one another.

And at the end of the event, somebody still had to finish on top.

But HYROX by the Beach was designed around friendly competition rather than formal race conditions.

Scores were kept on clipboards at every station.

That distinction shaped the atmosphere of the day.

Khunpon already uses structured HYROX training to help athletes build running fitness, strength and the ability to perform functional movements under fatigue. Events such as Khunpon's earlier full HYROX simulation can then offer a much closer look at the demands of putting those pieces together.

This was different.

At Amora, the purpose was not to measure somebody against an official race standard.

It was to give the community a reason to use its fitness together.

For people already familiar with HYROX, the movements provided a recognisable foundation. For those less concerned with racing, the adapted stations, team scoring and relay format made the experience much easier to understand:

contribute what you can, help your teammates and keep collecting points.

That made the day feel unmistakably competitive without allowing the competition to overwhelm everything around it.

From the workout floor to the shoreline

The collaboration with Amora Beach Resort Phuket gave Khunpon an opportunity to build an event that could not simply have been copied and dropped inside the gym.

Amora sits on Bang Tao Beach, with the resort describing its NORA Beach Club as a seafront venue overlooking the Andaman Sea.

That setting became part of the challenge itself.

The workout stations were based at Amora, while the relay sent competitors away from the station area and down towards the beach.

Touch the sand and sea. Turn around. Run back. Tag your teammate. Repeat.

It was a small change to the familiar relationship between running and workout stations, but one that gave HYROX by the Beach its own character.

This was not simply fitness happening near a beach. The route to the shoreline became part of what teams actually had to do.

More than 30 people, one Khunpon community

With places intentionally limited, more than 30 people took part in the event.

That scale helped keep the experience close enough for teams to follow what was happening around them while still giving the challenge genuine competitive energy.

And there is something different about taking a training community outside the place where it normally meets.

Inside the gym, people might usually cross paths during a HYROX class, strength session, Muay Thai class or another part of the weekly schedule.

An event gives them a shared reason to be there at the same time.

The format then does the rest. Four people become a team. A run becomes a relay.

Eight exercises become eight chances to move up the standings.

And the people normally training beside one another suddenly have a score to chase together.

That is where events like this become more than another workout on the calendar.

A finish worth competing for

After the final challenges were completed and the points were counted, one team finished at the top of the standings.

The winning team received vouchers and a complimentary meal at NORA Sunday Brunch.

NORA Beach Club is part of Amora Beach Resort Phuket and continues to run its beachfront Sunday Brunch programme.

Bringing the prize back into the Amora experience was a fitting end to a collaboration that had taken Khunpon's community beyond its normal training environment for the day.

The partners behind the event

HYROX by the Beach was created by Khunpon Martial Arts in collaboration with Amora Beach Resort Phuket, with support from three event partners.

Chang Drinking Water joined the event as Khunpon's water partner.

Chang Drinking Water forms part of Thai Beverage's beverage portfolio and has a long history of supporting sporting activity in Thailand.

WILDER supported HYROX by the Beach as the event's electrolyte partner. The Thailand-based performance hydration brand produces electrolyte products designed around training and active lifestyles in hot conditions.

Red Bull Energy Drink Thailand supported the day as energy partner, continuing the brand's involvement with sport and active events in Thailand. Red Bull maintains dedicated Thailand channels and sports programming in the country.

Each partnership played a supporting role around the central idea of the event: getting people together, getting them moving and giving the Khunpon community something different to take on.

What HYROX by the Beach was really about

The scoreboard mattered. So did the winning team.

But neither tells the full story of the day.

The more interesting part of HYROX by the Beach was what happened when Khunpon took a familiar training concept and loosened the rules around it.

A 1km run became a race towards the sea and back.

Individual effort became a four-person relay.

Standardised workout stations became challenges built for fun.

And instead of chasing one individual finishing time, teams spent the day adding points to something they shared.

That is a very different experience from stepping onto a formal race course, and it was meant to be.

For Khunpon, HYROX by the Beach was another way of showing what training can create beyond individual performance.

People came together. They competed. They backed their teammates.

And for one day at Amora Beach Resort Phuket, the route between the workout floor and the Andaman Sea became part of the challenge.
