Khunpon HYROX Simulation II: A Bigger Day for Our Community

More than 60 participants. Open and Pro divisions. Solo, Doubles and a team relay. On 1 August 2026, our second HYROX simulation brought our community together for our biggest and most complete simulation day yet, with entry kept at 500 Baht per person.

On 1 August, we welcomed more than 60 participants to Khunpon Martial Arts for our second HYROX simulation. Among them were athletes who had competed at the HYROX World Championships and earned podium finishes at HYROX races. Alongside that experience, we made space for people exploring the sport, testing their training or sharing a challenge with friends.

With HYROX Bangkok II less than two weeks away, the day had a clear place in the race calendar. It also had a purpose of its own: to bring people together here in Phuket and give our community an accessible opportunity to race.

Our second simulation grew in every direction. We had more participants, more sponsors and a longer programme than our first event. We offered different ways to take part and kept entry at 500 Baht per person. Khunpon Kitchen provided food and drinks, and a wider group of partners supported the day.

We are proud of that progress. Above all, we are proud that so many people chose to be part of it.

A place for your kind of challenge

Everyone arrives at a simulation with their own reason for entering. You might be preparing for your first official HYROX race, checking how your training is progressing or returning with a clear idea of what you want to improve. You might simply want a challenge that you can share with someone you enjoy training alongside.

A heat sets off. Solo athletes, Doubles pairs and the relay team all started the same way.

We wanted those different reasons to have a place in the same event. Our programme included Open and Pro divisions, with Solo and Doubles racing as well as a team relay. That gave participants a choice in how they approached the day and who they shared it with.

For solo athletes, the appeal is the opportunity to manage your own effort. You take responsibility for your decisions and find out more about how you respond as the work builds. Doubles adds a partnership: you have someone to communicate with, share the challenge with and work alongside towards the same finish. The relay brings that shared responsibility into a team setting.

These choices matter when you are deciding whether to enter. Going alone may be exactly what you want. Having a partner or team may be what gives you the confidence to sign up. We value both, because the starting point should be something you can see yourself taking part in.

For readers new to the terminology, Open and Pro refer to HYROX divisions, with Pro using heavier prescribed weights at certain stations. Solo, Doubles and Relay describe whether you race individually, as a pair or in a team. You can find the full explanations in HYROX's guide to the race.

Championship experience, shared community

Having HYROX World Championships racers and HYROX podium athletes take part added real experience to our field. We were pleased to welcome competitors who had already tested themselves at that level and wanted to join our simulation here in Phuket.

Their involvement says something about the range of people a community event can bring together. A racer with several seasons behind them may be working on a very specific part of their performance. Someone earlier in the sport may still be finding out which format they enjoy. Both can get something valuable from the same day.

That mix is important to us. We want our events to offer enough substance for experienced competitors while remaining approachable for people building their confidence. You should be able to take your own goal seriously without feeling that you need an impressive race record before you belong.

There is also something encouraging about seeing experienced athletes continue to practise. Competing at a high level still involves preparation, repetition and showing up to do the work. A local simulation puts that process within the same community as someone taking their next, smaller step.

A useful test ahead of Bangkok

The timing gave Simulation II particular relevance for athletes preparing for the capital. HYROX Bangkok II ran from 13 to 16 August 2026, the opening Bangkok fixture of the 2026/27 season. Our simulation took place on 1 August, twelve days before that event began.

For anyone heading to Bangkok, this was an opportunity to bring their preparation into an event setting. Regular sessions build familiarity with the work. A simulation gives you a chance to think about how you approach a longer effort, how you make decisions as you tire and how the different demands feel together.

The useful lessons can be quite personal. You may come away wanting to start more patiently, communicate more clearly with your partner or pay closer attention to how you distribute your effort. You may simply feel more comfortable with the prospect of race day after taking part in a local event first.

Those are valuable reasons to make room for a simulation in your preparation. A finishing time can give you one reference point; the experience can give you several others to consider with your coach or training partners.

Bangkok gave our event a timely focus, while our invitation remained open to the wider community. You did not need a Bangkok entry to have a reason to participate. Taking on the simulation itself could be your goal, or your first opportunity to explore whether fitness racing was something you wanted to pursue further.

We want our future simulations to keep offering that combination: useful preparation for people with a race ahead and a welcoming local event for people discovering what they enjoy.

Why we kept entry at 500 Baht

We set participation at 500 Baht per person because we wanted the day to be accessible to our community. As we developed a bigger second event, keeping the price within reach remained a clear priority.

A local simulation gives people an opportunity to take part close to where they train. An affordable entry makes that opportunity easier to consider, whether you are already committed to a race calendar or deciding if you want to try something new.

Price works alongside the choices in the programme. Someone can feel interested in a challenge but hesitant about doing it alone. A Doubles entry gives them a way to bring a partner into the decision. A relay gives a group something to work towards together. Keeping participation at 500 Baht per person helped us make those invitations practical.

More than 60 people took part throughout the day. We cannot put everyone's decision down to one factor, but that response meant a great deal to us. It showed that there was an appetite for the kind of event we wanted to offer: a substantial local simulation with room for different levels of experience and different ways to join in.

Making a day of it

Our second simulation ran for longer than our first, with a fuller programme and more people participating across the day. We wanted the event around the racing to feel welcoming too. When you organise something for your community, the experience includes the time people spend at the gym beyond their own effort.

Khunpon Kitchen provided food and drinks during the event, giving people somewhere to eat and drink while the programme continued. For a longer day, that is a meaningful part of looking after the people taking part and helping around the event.

It also reflects how we think about Khunpon as a place to spend time. Training brings people through the door, and a shared event gives them another reason to connect. A partner's effort, a team's challenge or a familiar face taking part can give you a reason to follow the day beyond your own start and finish.

The judges' shirts. Khunpon Kitchen kept everyone fed.

That is the kind of community we want to keep building. We want people to feel comfortable coming to train, entering an event and getting to know the people around them. The more familiar those faces become, the easier it can feel to take the next step yourself.

The people who helped and supported the simulation were part of that experience too. A longer programme depends on time and effort from people around the racing. We appreciate everyone who contributed to making our second edition possible.

The partners who supported our day

We welcomed broader support from local and national partners for Simulation II, with seven official sponsors joining us across sport, wellbeing, recovery, hydration, refreshments, nutrition and food.

KĀHLĪ Tennis Academy supported us as our Sport & Wellbeing Sponsor, and Recovery Center Bangtao joined as our Performance & Recovery Sponsor. Their involvement connected our event with other organisations in Phuket's active community, bringing support from beyond our own training floor.

WILDER was our Hydration Sponsor, Chang our Refreshment Sponsor, and Red Bull Thailand our Energy Drink Sponsor. We were also joined by Slice Wellbeing as our Nutrition Sponsor and SōL Phuket as our Food & Lifestyle Sponsor.

We are grateful to each of them for supporting the event. Bringing together businesses with different connections to sport and everyday wellbeing helped us build a wider circle around the simulation. It is encouraging to see that support extend to an event whose purpose is to give our community more opportunities to participate.

As we develop future simulations, those relationships matter. A strong local event grows through the people who enter, the people who help and the partners willing to support the occasion. We appreciate all three.

Our most complete simulation so far

Looking back, we consider Simulation II the most complete HYROX simulation we have organised. The growth was clear: more participants, a longer day and a wider group of sponsors than our first edition. Our programme gave individuals, pairs and a relay team a place to take part, with Open and Pro divisions represented.

Done. Two finishers at the end of their heat.

What makes us proud is how those elements worked towards the same purpose. We wanted to offer a day that experienced racers could value and that others could see themselves joining. We kept the entry accessible and built the event around our community. More than 60 participants helped turn that intention into a substantial second edition.

Our plans are to continue growing these simulations ahead of future HYROX Bangkok races. We want each edition to carry forward the things that mattered here: a worthwhile challenge, several ways to participate and a welcoming place to do it together.

Your next step starts with training

We are an official HYROX Training Club in Phuket, Thailand, and our community continues between event days. You can join us to prepare for an upcoming race, become more familiar with HYROX training or build towards a challenge you have not chosen yet.

Our ambition is to make Khunpon the home of HYROX on the island. For us, that means giving people a place to return to: somewhere to train consistently, meet others who enjoy the work and find support as their goals develop.

Simulation II gave us another opportunity to put that ambition into practice. To everyone who raced, helped, partnered with us or supported the day, thank you. You made our second simulation something we are proud to build on.
